The Sporthotel Grafenwald 4 Sterne Superior, located near Daun, offers modern rooms and apartments in a large park. This 4-star resort is a base for exploring the volcanic Eifel region and three nearby volcanic lakes. Amenities include a spa complex with saunas, a swimming pool, beauty farm, fitness centre, yoga, and water-aerobics classes, plus a healthy breakfast buffet and on-site restaurant.

The staff and location were great, and the wellness apartment with its own infrared sauna was superb! The only downside was the limited number of hooks in the bathroom – only two were available for hanging towels and bathrobes. The a‑la‑carte menu at the restaurant was also somewhat limited.

The breakfast buffet was plentiful, varied, and very good, and the evening buffet was also great. The room was spacious, with a bathroom that had a bathtub, a terrace, and the mattresses were very good. The wardrobe had plenty of hangers and a fridge. Supi!

The staff were very friendly without seeming forced – a big compliment! The sports facilities and wellness area were in excellent condition and very clean, which justifies the slightly higher price. The bungalow’s furnishings feel a bit dated and worn in places; an update to the kitchen equipment would be the first thing I’d tackle.
