The Canmore Downtown Hostel provides family rooms with private bathrooms, mountain views, air‑conditioning, flat‑screen TV and hairdryer. Situated 112 km from Calgary International Airport, it’s near restaurants and trailheads, praised for clean rooms, excellent kitchen and attentive staff.

I was surprised by how nice, modern, and clean the hostel was; it’s been a while since I stayed in a hostel and this one surpassed my expectations. Keycard entry, a large kitchen with plenty of stoves and storage for longer stays, and a common area full of board games and furniture from desks to couches. The downside is that the rooms have very secure hotel‑style keycard locks that make the doors extremely loud; I had to be careful to close them softly at night, and the constant slamming from early‑morning guests made it hard to sleep. The lighting could be more individual; there’s a reading light inside the bunk but the whole room lights up when you turn it on, which is awkward if people are sleeping at 9 pm even though quiet hours start at 11 pm. Our room stayed dark most of the time because no one wanted to turn on the light. Individual lamps outside the bunks that shine down would be nice.

Super clean, nice staff, free parking, lots of bathrooms and kitchen facilities!! Very comfortable beds and location also. A little pricey for a hostel but good value overall!

The hostel sits right inside a shopping arcade with plenty of restaurants, cafés, and convenience stores, and the bus stop for Banff is conveniently located right in front of the hostel. The staff are incredibly friendly, and all the facilities are excellent, including the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room, and common areas. The views are absolutely stunning! The beds are comfortable, and each bed comes with its own privacy curtain. Both the en‑suite bathrooms and the shared bathrooms outside the rooms are clean and well‑maintained. If you’re looking for budget‑friendly accommodation without compromising on quality, I highly recommend this place!
