Garam Guesthouse sits in a clean, quiet area with easy access to everything you need, and a shop is very close, plus some great local restaurants like A Zona. The bed was large and comfortable, and we really liked the shower and bath products. Breakfast eggs were delicious and the fresh orange juice was good, and the coffee machine was great. Some staff were gentle and considerate. The main problem was the mold smell that hit you as soon as you entered the room; every time we returned, we had to keep the window open because of it, even though late October isn’t warm enough to keep a window open. The wardrobe was unusable—old, dilapidated furniture with doors that don’t close properly and warped wood—so we had to store our clothes in the luggage. The bathroom door had the same “barn” look, didn’t close well, and the bathroom smell seeped into the room. The floor was used, chipped wood and slanted; it looks fine in photos but in reality it’s impractical and uncomfortable. You have to book a breakfast time slot, and it was unacceptable that employees swept the floor during breakfast while food was on the plates. The first day we asked the broom‑user to stop because the dust fell on everything, she apologized and kept sweeping. For the price and quality, a vacuum before or after breakfast would have been expected. Overall, it was below expectations.
