HULA HULA RESORT offers a tranquil hilltop retreat overlooking the Andaman Sea in Ao Nang. Four outdoor pools, a Thai art centre, and free WiFi are featured. The resort is 3 minutes from Ao Nang and Nopparat Beach by shuttle or 12 minutes on foot. Pineapple-themed rooms have wood furnishings, flat-screen TVs, and en suite bathrooms with frangipani-scented toiletries and pool access.

The pool was great, but the hotel rooms had extensive moldy/black stains on the ceiling and walls. There were a lot of black mosquitoes/insects. A large dead bird was on the balcony. The air conditioner didn’t work properly. Power cut four times during our stay. The pool area was poorly maintained and full of leaves, trash, and ants. Cleaning and overall standard were far below what we expected from the hotel. We also had a very unpleasant experience at the hotel’s restaurant. I ordered a beef burger but received something that clearly looked like chicken. The staff insisted it was beef and expected me to pay for the meal. The meat was also raw/undercooked. The most serious incident happened after my husband and I left the hotel a day before my mother. Before we departed, we settled our debt and paid 650.40 NOK. The hotel had also held my passport during our stay. When my mother was scheduled to travel the next day, the hotel claimed my husband and I hadn’t paid. She was pressured to pay an additional 700 THB and was threatened that the police would be involved if she didn’t. This happened even though we had already settled everything before leaving. The behavior of some front‑desk staff was also very unprofessional. We found them rude and unhelpful, and we even saw reception staff lying on the desk with a pillow and sleeping. This was a vacation we had been looking forward to, but the stay was marred by unhygienic conditions, lack of maintenance, and very poor treatment from the staff. I request an investigation and contact with the hotel. Given the extent of the problems, I also seek significant compensation for the stay, as well as a refund of the 700 THB my mother was pressured to pay. I can provide photos, payment records, and other relevant documentation.

The surroundings were lush with plants. The water in the private pool was dirty and there was no lighting in it.

I love how roomy, spotless, and gorgeous the room is! The water heater and AC work flawlessly. I ordered Thai basil chicken via room service and the food was delicious! The hospitality was great too, and wow, they even handed out a welcome drink!
