When I checked in, the gentleman at the desk was extremely helpful and met all my needs. I’d booked with a cane, but after six weeks I switched to a walker, so a ground‑floor room became essential; the staff handled that request swiftly and I really appreciated it.

“Modest but quite adequate and pleasant room, clean and quiet. Would stay here again.”

I booked the Thunderbird but ended up staying at the nearby Spinning Wheel, owned by the same people. Because of a knee injury I needed a first‑floor room. The room was spotless, and the towels and bathroom supplies were replaced the next day—a rare courtesy these days. The facilities were simple but good: a fridge, a microwave, a TV, and both a shower and a bath. It looked like the room had been refreshed within the last year, and the bed was very comfortable. I would have liked a coffeemaker, and although the pillows were plush, there was only one per person. The lighting was a bit thin; a desk lamp would have helped, but these are all minor issues.

“Disappointing”

Conveniently close to Devils Lake, but the main part of our room was clean while the bathroom had shit on the floor when I called the next day to complain! They said a supervisor would call me and no one ever did—never again.

The floors were not clean and it smelled like smoke. The shampoo came in foil packets and there was only one, plus no hair dryer.
