The place is way off from the main bazaar, making it tough to get there. The location is the main issue.

Getting into the hostel was a nightmare: the entrance was cramped, dim, run‑down, and in bad shape. The dorm itself was shabby, the whole property looked old and neglected, and the staff didn’t help or answer any questions. I’d rather stay at The Hosteller than Zostel.

The location is awful, forcing you to walk through narrow, dirty alleys on a long, unpleasant route, and the room is old and in very bad condition; the shower and toilets emit a bad odor.

From the moment I stepped in, the management and staff were very welcoming, and the activity coordinator Misri was incredibly friendly—she quickly introduced me to fellow travelers and led us on a fantastic short hike along the Manaslu River, stopping at several picturesque viewpoints, which was definitely the highlight of my stay. The common areas and bedrooms were clean and tidy, but the bathroom in my private room needed more attention; it had mould patches on the door and parts of the wall. I didn’t raise an issue because I understand the area can stay damp in Manali’s cold, but ideally the hostel housekeeping should stock anti‑fungal spray and use it to keep mould off surfaces.

“Review according to my experience”

The vibe is good, thanks to the community manager who does a solid job creating a positive atmosphere, and the staff are friendly; the toilets are clean and the view is nice. The food is also good. However, although the dorm toilets were clean, one common toilet had a non‑working jet. Additionally, luggage security could be improved—while it’s mostly safe, you never know, so the clock room and dorm storages could be a bit more secure. Other than that, the hostel meets basic needs and I would recommend staying here.
