The calm ambience and friendly staff were soothing, the kitchen was excellent, and the "agneau a la croute provencal mit dem Aprikosen/Ingwer Chutney" was wonderfully inspiring. The view of the castle and nature is very beautiful and almost completely masks the remote setting. The hotel is a bit out of the way, but it can be reached in 35 minutes by public transport or bus from Aix-en-Provence.

A small hotel overlooking Mount San Victor (the mountain mentioned by Cézanne and Picasso) in the authentic village of Vuvengarg. The hotel sits in the pedestrian zone of the town, attracting those seeking a leisurely retreat and contemplation of the natural surroundings. The hotel’s restaurant holds Michelin stars for 2021 and 2025. It may feel a bit unconventional, but it’s tasty. From the hotel windows one can see the castle that belonged to Picasso, where he lived. The room is small but cozy, with modern décor. The pool is open from 9 am to 7 pm; I couldn’t enjoy the view from the pool, but that’s not a flaw—just a matter of planning the stay differently.
