“A tourist trap”

The scenery was lovely, kayaking was fun, and the bar staff were polite and friendly. But it didn’t feel like a 4‑star experience, especially for $196 a night, which is steep for Vietnam. The price dropped $30 to $40 a few days before arrival, yet management wouldn’t match it even though we could still cancel. The cruise barely covered any distance; the boat stayed anchored in the same spot for most of the trip, so we saw the same view instead of cruising around the bay. The schedule felt rushed with almost no free time. Pickup was late, boarding began at 1:00 PM instead of 12:00 PM, activities were shortened, and staff knocked on our door to rush us out by 10:30 AM on the last morning. In cabin 207, the window wouldn’t close fully, letting boat exhaust and kitchen smells drift in. There was a strong sewage odor from the bathroom, no hot water at night, no bath mat so the floor stayed wet, no hand towels, no hand soap, and the shower soap was watered down. Food was disappointing with small portions; drinking water was only available by request or purchase. When we asked for an extra salad because we were still hungry, we were given a cucumber instead, and the Wi‑Fi didn’t work. Finally, when we asked for clarification because the guide was sometimes hard to understand, he became impatient, and later, when we were asked to fill out a survey, he pressured us to change it to a 5‑star review because he was offended.

The staff were absolutely fantastic and they even upgraded us to a higher class room at no extra cost! The only downside was that we had to stay for two nights, which felt a bit short.

“Super site, un peu cher mais top”

The boat was in good condition, clean and the crew took great care of us, with a tip‑top guide and superb local cuisine prepared on board. The balcony room was lovely, yet exhaust fumes from the engine left quite a bit of soot on the balcony furniture and a constant engine‑type hum ran through the night.
