“Excellent front-desk service, but an unacceptable room situation”
The gentleman at reception was extremely helpful and professional, doing everything he could after we discovered the issue with our room. He located another hotel nearby for us, and Casa 1800 refunded our reservation. His handling of a very difficult situation was excellent. We had booked a Superior Room for our wedding anniversary, but upon checking in and carrying our luggage, we found the assigned room was under construction and unusable. The hotel was full, so no alternative room was available. We had parked about half a mile away, walked to the hotel to confirm parking, returned to the car for our luggage, and then walked back to the hotel only to learn of the problem. The replacement hotel was about 0.2 miles away, but its room was significantly smaller, more basic, and noisier because it sat on a busy square. The whole ordeal lasted roughly two hours, and we didn’t settle until around 8 PM, which was especially disappointing for a special anniversary evening. I called the hotel that night and was first offered a 10 % discount on a future stay; management later apologized and raised the offer to 30 %, which I appreciated, but the response came too late to affect our trip. We had been seriously considering Casa 1800 Sevilla for our next stay, but by the time management replied we had already made other arrangements. The gentleman at reception did a great job trying to recover the situation, but a guest should never be checked into a room that is under construction and unusable in the first place.
