The location is beautiful and tranquil, the welcome was warm, and the staff were friendly. The surroundings are relaxing, with a lovely atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Ruhondo Lake. A few areas could use a bit more attention, especially the facilities and small details that would make the stay even more comfortable.
First, thanks to the lovely staff, Regina and Gadi! They were 10, trying to solve every problem even when it was complicated. Manager Eric wasn’t a talker, but the fact that the place was clean and ran well shows good management. The boat fare of 30 USD is fair. The food was good and served on time. There really wasn’t hot water. Once there was no water at all, which was fixed after a short while (a known issue in Rwanda). The place is very well maintained with a beautiful view, like paradise. The manager kept in touch with me remotely. The big problem was that on the first night there was a big local party, which caused me to wake up several times to deal with the noise. The management should have informed me a few days before arrival that this would happen that night and offered me the option to cancel, because you expect a quiet, peaceful place where you can sleep well… it was completely unfair, I was exhausted the next day and it really weakened my health.

The setting was absolutely stunning, and in the evening it was very peaceful. Manager Eric was very helpful, taking us on a walking tour between the twin lakes. He also accompanied us to Kigali when we left and made sure we caught the right bus at the station. That was very kind and much appreciated. The bathroom water was warm. The listed amenities are misleading and many are completely incorrect. For example, there is no free shuttle, no city view, nor an ATM, even though they are listed. The guest house cannot be reached by road, but this isn’t stated in the information. Water pressure is low. The facilities feel a little dated.

The staff were amazing. The setting on a lush tropical hillside was stunning, and we really enjoyed the trip to the island and the local market. Thank you to manager Yves for being so kind and helpful, ensuring we got the most out of our stay.
