The shared common areas were quiet and cozy, though I might have chosen a mix of a soft and a firm pillow and added a shelf in the bathroom for extra support.

The room was very comfortable and clean, just a three‑minute walk from Porta Romana, the entrance to Florence’s center.

The room offered plenty of space and a large street‑view window; the spot was convenient, close to eateries, and a downstairs café served tasty pastries while Carrefour was nearby. The housekeeping staff was friendly and even handed us an iron when we asked. However, the building’s entrance felt dim and gave a bad first impression, the soundproofing between rooms was inadequate, and the bathroom looked old and was in poor condition, not matching the photos I had seen. The TV was small and outdated, Wi‑Fi was weak, and although the listing mentioned bed‑and‑breakfast, none was provided and the kitchen was off‑limits to guests.

Air conditioning was appreciated. The apartment is charming and comfortable. Very liveable. We made use of the offsite parking with our rental car and it was most appreciated. The WiFi was dreadful. It reminded me of early implementation of wireless networks in the mid-1990s. This is not an optional feature, but very important to daily life, nowadays. Current technology now easily addresses poor WiFi, even in older buildings. It needs to be upgraded
