Pacific Coast Motel

“Basic Motel out of the hubbub of Gold Coast.”

The location was very convenient for us, with lovely restaurants within walking distance for dinner; we enjoyed great food at Thai Time and the Curry Hut. A strange smell in the room came from the drain, as if it had been unused for a long while. On the last morning of our stay, the cleaning staff (4–5 people) stood outside our door talking loudly from about 8 am. When I took one case to the car they asked if they could go into our room, so we felt pressured to leave earlier than we wanted.

The bed and pillows were comfortable. There were no keys or cards to get into the rooms; only keypads and a code. I was met by a teenager at the reception door entrance—quite weird! I wasn’t allowed inside the office—also weird!

The spot is good, but the room was a mess: urine dripped onto the toilet seat, the sheets weren't clean, there was grit, sand, and hair in the bed. I called and they fixed it, but there was only a quarter of a roll of toilet paper left, and when I reached out again there was no reply.

The staff were very friendly and helpful; they let us in early because my granddaughter's cheerleading competition finished early, and the motel felt old‑school but clean and exactly what we needed for the night.
