“grateful there is a place for folks to stay, but we will not be coming back.”
We booked the hotel in Syosset hoping to be near our destination, but we didn’t realize it also served as a kind of homeless shelter, meaning we ended up paying for both our room and for the homeless residents. The smell of pot was overwhelming, and the noise from barking dogs, a crying baby, and people arguing in the hallway at 2 am made us feel unsafe; the other guests weren’t sleeping during quiet hours from 10 pm to 7 am, were extremely restless, and it seemed like the situation could explode at any moment—gunshots, for example.
