“Sehr zufrieden!”

The hotel spreads across several buildings in Giza. I wasn’t placed in the main building, but that one had a similar setup. The roof terrace with a view of the pyramids was available. Staff were always helpful. There were door signs saying “please do not disturb” and “please room service”, letting you choose whether the room should be cleaned or left alone. The room and bathroom were very clean. However, the technical fittings didn’t meet European standards, so expect that when traveling to a different continent. As a solo traveler I only used the hotel for breakfast and sleeping, and spent the rest of the day out; for that purpose the place works well. It isn’t a hotel where you can spend a whole day, the offerings aren’t enough for that.

The rooftop view was amazing! We spent some time there in the evening and really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere

“Good location, good hotel staff, and a great value.”

Breakfast was good, staff were helpful and spoke good English. The location was a 2‑minute walk to the ticket office for the Sphinx entrance. The shower enclosure leaked easily.

“Avoid this hotel until it’s construction is complete.”

The Sophia hotel is under construction; several items in the room were slightly detached from the walls. It sits in a residential neighborhood, the menu is very limited, and the food we ordered was not good.

The location and cleanliness were nice. While walking around the premises we found that the reception staff claimed they liked Turks a lot and would give us a discount. We settled on the room and price and called our friends. When they arrived, they said we had misunderstood the price and increased the amount. They thought we wouldn’t back out because we were all there. We had the same rooms cheaper on Booking, and when they saw the price their faces fell. This time they told us the room was ready and we could move in immediately, but the rooms were full; they said we could check‑in at 2 pm. Because our trust was broken we approached everything cautiously. Breakfast was nice, but we thought they were serving leftovers from the previous group, so we only ate packaged items. Our breakfast wasn’t served right away; I followed up thinking they would serve the remaining items from the side table. The grapes they brought had new cuts. I asked for a replacement, they said it could happen but would replace it immediately, then said no more grapes were left. So they wanted to serve us the remaining side‑table items. The location is good and cleaner than other hotels, but feeling cheated was unpleasant. Receptionist Dina likes Turks, but her affection seems purely emotional. If you stay here, book through Booking, know how much you’ll pay, and be careful when breakfast is served.
