Pousada Portal do Sol, located in Ilha Grande, overlooks Guaxume Beach from its terrace, surrounded by tropical gardens. The hotel offers air-conditioned accommodations with room service, a restaurant serving simple dishes, and a free shuttle. Rooms feature a balcony with sunloungers, TV, minibar, and private bathroom. It's 1.5 km from Abraão Village and 2 km from the pier, 30 minutes by boat from Angra dos Reis Beach.

The staff were very attentive, the setting is beautiful with great room views, and it’s quiet and peaceful—ideal for those who want no fuss. However, even though the location is lovely, you’re quite isolated; to reach the Vila (where there are tour agencies, restaurants, markets, bars, etc.) the lodge charges 20 reais per person for a 10‑minute trip, or you can walk a muddy 50‑minute trail that sometimes requires wading through beach water. With four of us, each trip to the Vila for a meal already cost 160 reais.

We loved the location and the facilities. The room offered a spectacular view. Everyone on staff was friendly and ready to help. The tours pick you up and drop you back at the lodge. The sunset was excellent and the nights were beautiful. From there you can hike to other beaches.
