The Chill Art Hostel

It’s my second visit and if I ever return to Essaouira I’ll definitely stay at Chill art for a third time; the staff are sweet and engaged, the venue is great for meeting people, and thanks to Medhi we got to cook and share a meal with folks from around the world. The location in the Medina with a lovely terrace makes it ideal. Everything was perfect.

“Consigliatissimo!”

The room was spacious, the services and the friendliness of the staff were excellent, the value for money, the ability to book excursions, the breakfast, the common area for socialising, and the afternoon tea were all great. The location is tucked into the Medina yet easy to reach on foot. Basically everything is fine. The overall environment is humid, but that might be normal for the whole Medina, and I’m not writing it to discourage anyone.

“Great hostel”

Pros: great vibes, breakfast, location, staff. Curtains on beds and communal toilets and showers outside of rooms. A nice common area on main floor and a cool rooftop terrace. I loved the communal breakfast and evening tea. It's a great opportunity to meet people and make plans together. The staff was lovely. Areas of improvement: a fan in the room would be nice. The showers were poorly lit and had a bit of a smell

“Friendly social hostel in the heart of the medina.”

Fantastic staff, and I loved my stay here. Breakfast was fantastic and an opportunity to meet other guests if travelling solo. The staff also helped with a transfer to Marrakesh, which was more cost‑effective than organising it myself. The location is perfect in the Medina, which has a friendly, easy‑going vibe. The shower smelt pretty bad in the evening for some reason. I kept the windows open, which really helped. Probably just old drainage in the Medina.

Mood was very nice, the hostel is beautiful aesthetically, the common spaces are very well organized. We stayed in the internal apartment of the hostel and found it very comfortable: the spaces were clean and nice, the bathroom and shower were excellent. The only drawback is that the apartment smells damp; if the windows and door are not left open it can become quite annoying.
