Alivio Hotel Cairns is centrally located 3 blocks from the city centre and 10 minutes' drive from Cairns International Airport. The hotel features a tropical backyard with sun deck, outdoor pool, and heated spa. Tropical-style rooms have air conditioning, tea/coffee facilities, and en-suite bathrooms. Guests enjoy free WiFi, secure car parking, and tour desk advice, close to Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, and Atherton Tablelands.

A friendly receptionist explained everything about the hotel and the area, and my room was spacious with a seating area and balcony. The bed and pillows were clean and comfortable, and the bathroom looked tidy with all the necessary items. Parking was free in the basement, with ample spaces, and everything was arranged perfectly. The breakfast voucher for Goose on the corner was enough for a hearty meal. The location is halfway between the airport and the city centre, so walking is convenient—just 10 minutes. Overall a good stay, and if we ever come back to Cairns we’ll know where to stay. The only issue was the balcony door sloped poorly; it rattled in rain and wind, and I had to hunt for the source of the noise, though a paper between the hinges eventually fixed it.

Lovely property and rooms. As we didn’t check in before 8 (8.30pm) there was no one at reception. We had to put in a code at the outdoor door and inside to open a safe with our room key. There was approx 5 other keys. Don’t understand how they could have staff on after 8. Poor experience when paying 200 for a night. Also couldn’t sleep our room faced the road and very noisy. I never review but very disappointing

The one‑bed apartment was spacious, and off‑street parking was convenient. The Thai restaurant in the foyer was fabulous. The only downside was that the hotel is on a busy, noisy main road.

The rooms offered good views and were tidy. The facilities, such as the jacuzzi and pool, were let down: although the jacuzzi was supposed to be open until 10 pm, it was not working at 7 pm, and the pool lights were barely visible. For a four‑star hotel charging $200 per night I expected better.
