Namal Guest House in Dickwella sits directly on the beachfront, offering garden and terrace vistas and immediate access to pristine sand. Air‑conditioned rooms feature private bathrooms, tiled floors, TV and complimentary toiletries. Guests enjoy free Wi‑Fi, vegetarian and Asian breakfast served in‑room, and on‑site bike and car hire. Nearby attractions include Dickwella Beach, Hummanaya Blow Hole (6 km) and Tangalle Lagoon (16 km).

The girl who runs it was very nice, friendly, and communicated well. In the first 24 hours we had no working Wi‑Fi. The sheet fitted to our bed was not fitted and didn’t even cover the whole mattress; when we asked the lady for a new one she handed us the sheets to change them ourselves. One of the bedrooms had a bathroom just outside of it, which wasn’t an issue in itself but it had lots of ants in it. Water pressure was very low, and the shower was entirely cold. We booked two rooms and both of us had to ask for more toilet roll and for the bathroom bin to be changed. The second day we had no power all day (not their fault) but just be aware this is like staying in someone’s house so they have no backup generator. This meant we could not shower, charge our phones, or use any Wi‑Fi. We also used the laundry service and had to take down one load from the washing line ourselves as we were leaving and needed to pack. Overall this is NOT a hotel experience at all, and I would say not good value for money given the price.

Breakfast was plentiful; on the first day I had to leave early, so getting breakfast at 5:30 was amazing. It’s close to the city center and the beach, yet a quiet and comfortable place. The bathroom drainage was a bit problematic. At night there were mosquitoes, but a mosquito repellent stick solved it. The sheets were a bit dirty.

The host was lovely and her breakfasts were delicious. Rooms were nice and beds were large. It’s on the main road of Dickwella and not far from Hiriketya Beach. Air conditioning worked great. There were some ants and no hot water in the showers (but it was so hot outside that it didn’t really matter).
