“I expected Gandalf to walk into the bar at any time!”

The old pub was lovely. The room was well appointed and good value for money. The bar was one of the most attractive places I’ve been in, with excellent beer and a full Lancashire breakfast. It’s at the start of the Tolkien Trail, which was the reason for staying, and there are other walks as well. The staff were friendly and helpful, so I would highly recommend it. I was a little disappointed that the usual menu wasn’t available on a Sunday night, and the roast dinner was good except for the Yorkshire pudding. The meals were a bit pricey.

The pub is beautiful, the dinner was excellent, and the garden view gives the same vibe you get from the rooms.

The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was great. Nothing else to note.

A warm and cosy country inn, perfect for both long and short stays in a lovely countryside setting; a little gem overlooking the Dales.
