The apartment is ideal for people arriving by ferry and staying in Ancona. Restaurants are conveniently located right outside the door, and the landlord was very friendly and flexible.

We had to take a taxi from the train station because the Palazzo sits in the pedestrian zone; the taxi could only drop us off at a nearby parking spot where the landlord was already waiting. The reception was very accommodating and welcoming, making us feel comfortable immediately. From there we walked 150 m to a huge wooden tower that led into the Palazzo’s courtyard. The old grandeur is still hinted at, though the place has fallen into a fair amount of poverty now. Some things don’t work perfectly, but it was great to be in a place that usually only allows a glimpse through a crack in the door. The large estate rents out only a few rooms to guests; the rest are occupied by locals living around the courtyard. This accommodation suited us perfectly. The next morning we could head to a nice breakfast café right above the harbor and then walk or take the harbor shuttle to check in for the ferries.

“Klein, aber zentral”

The Palazzo itself was fine, with a lovely courtyard that offered secure bike storage, good cleanliness, a personal introduction from the caretaker, and a central location. Our room was very small and unsuitable for a longer stay.

Check‑in was smooth – the owner’s father met us upon arrival, escorted us to the room, and showed everything. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it had a fridge, kettle, and mugs. The modern bathroom was also clean. The location is in the center.

The room was clean and well‑located, though not very bright because a window faces a neighboring building. The host was welcoming and responsive, and the price offered good value for a one‑night stay in Ancona.
