The receptionist was friendly and even slipped a hair‑dryer into my personal locker because I’m a woman, which I appreciated, and my roommate was decent too. Still, the hallway constantly smelled of cigarette smoke despite the no‑smoking rule, the curtains are far too short leaving a big gap at the bottom and sides, the women’s shower head points straight down and drenched my belongings, and the lockers feel a bit insecure if you’re worried about your stuff.

The gentleman who met me and took me to my room was helpful, but the hostel itself feels old and dirty, as if it’s never really cleaned. The area around the building already feels unsafe, and the staff only gave me a phone number and vague reassurance about safety. That evening the guys next door started shouting and fighting, I couldn’t even lock my door, so I tried to leave; one of them followed me right up to my taxi.

The room I got didn’t match the booking at all, and overall it turned out to be a real disappointment.

Georg was incredibly welcoming, and the fresh room came with a warm blanket and a spacious shower that made the stay pleasant.

The manager was friendly and the place was clean and comfortable for the price, but there’s no sign outside so it’s hard to spot the hostel.
