First Camp Stensö-Kalmar

The surroundings were beautiful and the location was great, the bed was fine, and we enjoyed the weather, but the reception was closed when we arrived and we didn’t receive a PIN code, so we had to call first; that took about half an hour before we could get in, which was frustrating after a long journey. No apology or compensation was offered. The cottage wasn’t clean either—hair in the bathroom and cornflakes on the sofa. A chair creaked, a door was broken, and the TV didn’t work. Despite all that, we had a good week with nice weather, and without TV we just played games. I sent an email but received no reply, and I didn’t want to let the vacation be ruined.

“Inrökt stuga, Receptionen tar inget ansvar”

The cabin was completely smoked in, I struggled to stay inside, I nearly had an asthma attack several times, after the stay I had to discard all my pillows, wash the blanket and clothes because of the tobacco smell, I told reception but they said it was my responsibility to mention it, I arrived at 16:00 on a weekday, the reception closed at 17:00, I was promised a 30% refund but after a month I still haven’t received any money.

“Vår vistesle var väldigt bra vi gillade området väldigt mycket.”

We handled breakfast ourselves, but the area was perfect; the half‑finished paint in cabin 24 left an unpolished impression.

“Hade kunnat hitta bättre.”

The location was nice, but the cleaning was late after previous guests, and we were supposed to check in at 19:00 yet received no code for the key box or directions to the key. Fortunately we could call the “general info” line which closed at 19:00; without that we would have been left without accommodation. The beds creaked when looked at, and the kitchen furniture was extremely unstable, giving a rather unprofessional feel.

The setting on Stensö was gorgeous, and the nature around was breathtaking.
