The food is delicious and locally sourced, and we even got fresh mango for breakfast every day.
Asela and his lovely family have created a truly idyllic retreat that's perfect for travelers who want a mix of freedom and personalized service.
The property is nestled in a beautiful green setting, yet still close to the main road and all the sights.

“Peaceful Forest Retreat with Great Service”
The hotel staff went out of their way to help me with transportation from the airport, which was a big plus. They also recommended a great restaurant that served the best food I had during my entire trip to Sri Lanka. The hotel itself is a bit off the main street, but it's nestled in a peaceful forest setting that's perfect for relaxation. However, I do think it would be better if guests could arrange their own transportation, as it might be a bit of a hassle otherwise.
“Clean and spacious, but a few minor issues”
I was really pleased with the cleanliness of the place, it matched the description perfectly. The room was spacious, with two comfortable double beds and a large bathroom. However, the only downside was the mud on the floor after the rain, and the lack of hot water in the shower. One night, the water ran out of the tank, which made showering a bit of a hassle.
“A Hidden Gem in Dambulla”
I've never met such genuinely helpful hosts as Asela and his wife - they went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and informed. Their little lodge is a hidden gem, especially considering the affordable prices they offer, which is way cheaper than anywhere else in Dambulla. The food they prepared for us was incredible - Asela's wife is a talented chef, and we ended up having dinner here every night.
“Friendly Family, But Room Issues”
The family who runs this place is extremely kind and accommodating. The hotel is also very close to the bus stop, which is convenient. However, the room I stayed in was a bit of a letdown - it was damp and had a strong mold smell. Still, the family's hospitality made up for it to some extent.
“Friendly host, but not the most central location”
The host was incredibly friendly, and the fact that wild flowers started blooming in the garden was a lovely bonus. However, it's worth noting that you'll need to use a tuk-tuk or motorbike to get around, as the location isn't exactly central. That being said, the tuk-tuk service was really convenient and took me to all the nearby attractions.
