“The perfect base from which to see the Amalfi coast... but you may not want to leave !”
Choosing to stay in Minori after a few nights in Sorrento and using it as a base for four nights to explore the Amalfi coast turned out to be the perfect decision. The town is small, authentic, far fewer people, plenty of ferries to other Amalfi destinations, many good restaurants that don’t usually require reservations, and a great beach for swimming. Getting to Ravello is easy—take the bus up, have lunch, then walk down the trail with about 1500 steps, so wear good shoes—and the Walk of Lemons between Minori and Maiori is also recommended. From there it’s simple to ferry to Salerno and catch a train anywhere; we went back to Florence on a high‑speed train. The Palazzo Mancinci is wonderfully positioned on the beachfront, comfortable and secure, with good air‑conditioning (essential) and Wi‑Fi, plus a room safe. The free breakfast is a voucher to a nearby café for a croissant and coffee, but once there you’ll see they have the most amazing cake shop I’ve ever seen, so we became regulars each day. We ended up planning our days the same way: a morning trip somewhere, back early in the afternoon to lounge on the beach and swim, then dinner in Minori. Repeat. Perfect! The only downside was that we thought we were getting a “balcony with sea view” from the booking description, but there was no sea view from the room. That was disappointing, but everything else was perfect. Maybe they can change the description to avoid others feeling the same disappointment.
