The décor feels like a farmhouse, and the Italian food—thanks to the Italian owners—beats what I’ve had back home; the parmigiana is killer and the Moroccan dishes are great, plus there are nice activities to do. However, the power went out at night, apparently by design, and the pool isn’t deep enough for adults.

It’s an unprecedented and avant‑garde project for Morocco, located in an oasis not far from Marrakech. If you love animals it’s a bucolic and very welcoming property. The horseback tour is beautiful, the dinner is excellent. Access isn’t the most convenient, but who cares! The area needs a car if you want to explore the lake and surroundings properly.
