Rafiki Hostels - Dahab

You can meet fellow backpackers and the location is alright. Too much randomness in the experience. Sometimes there's water, sometimes not. Same for electricity, wifi, and the included breakfast. It's not reliable enough. Be aware that Rafiki Hostel owns several different buildings on the same street, and they are in various conditions. You might end up in one that is not well maintained. The staff are friendly, but the hostel seems to be self-managed, with a lack of information and structure. I was expecting more! :(

The community and staff are amazing, with lots of activities to enjoy. The location is excellent, with everything you need nearby. The hostel is also very clean and well-maintained. I had one of the best weeks of my life at Rafiki Hostel! The atmosphere, the people, and the overall experience made it truly unforgettable. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Dahab!

“Very unreasonable owners and poor facilities”

The vibe at this hostel is pretty great. Lots of Egyptian and non‑Egyptian travellers here and they organise good events that people go to. A great place to make some friends. The facilities are really bad and the owners don’t seem to care. During a previous three‑night stay the water was not working for more than half the time, meaning the toilet would not flush and showers weren’t possible. This was a shared bathroom and very hot weather so it got pretty gross. I deliberately booked a room in the new building this time and the photos and description explicitly confirmed this was “a room in our newest villa (where I had also stayed before)”. Only when I checked in they put me in a room in the same crappy villa I had stayed in the last time and had deliberately avoided. They refused to move me, even when I offered to move and extend my stay to a room they confirmed was vacant, and the other room was the same price. Water dripped on the bed from the AC. This is essentially a fraudulent listing. The Wi‑Fi doesn’t work throughout most of the properties and there is a funky smell. The place is almost entirely run by volunteer backpackers. Maybe worth a short stay to meet some people before moving to a place that actually cares about their guests.

“Organización y alojamientos horribles”

The other travellers. I can’t say anything more positive, because neither the location, the accommodation, the staff, nor the cleanliness are strong points. It’s not like the description in the pictures. Everything is super old and poorly organised. I arrived and was put in a room with the hostel volunteers. Apparently it’s the worst room they have. No light, the Wi‑Fi is awful, no lockers. Horrible both the accommodation and the organisation.

Amazing place. Staff very welcoming. So many lovely travellers that I got to know. It’s really social but also quiet at night so you can sleep and rest when you need to. There are activities everyday which makes it really easy to meet people. I’ve been to Dahab many times but Rafiki’s made it the most special one by far. I liked everything - the breakfast could possibly be a bit more varied
