A few restaurants are close by, but the place was filthy, the bed and furnishings were old and not even white, and cigarette smoke filled the entire room. Bathroom fixtures were rusty and broken, and cockroaches were everywhere, even on the bed. I had no other choice, so I stayed, yet it remains the worst experience I’ve had in Chennai.

They served roadside food, and the bathroom had green‑colored water that made bathing and brushing impossible.
