“Schöne Hotelanlage”

I booked a room with a view of the marina, because the hotel sits right on a yacht harbor and the pool and garden area are lovely. The only downside was that the price, which was over 200 dollars, didn't include breakfast and there was no nearby shop where you could buy anything; you could only get breakfast a la carte at the pricey restaurant, which also failed to impress us at dinner. The rooms are very noisy – we could hear every word from the rooms next to us.

“Wunderschöne Hotelanlage in traumhafter Lage auf Shelter Island”

We spent four wonderful nights at Best Western Plus Island Palms on Shelter Island and were truly delighted! The hotel complex is stunning, set right on the water with endless palm trees, huge tropical plants, beautifully landscaped outdoor areas, and amazing views. Wherever you are in the property, there's always something nice to see. The promenade by the water is perfect for a stroll, and even though several hotels line the shore, the whole area feels quiet, spacious, and relaxed. The highlight for us was watching dolphins and sea lions right outside the hotel – unforgettable! The two pool areas were also a big plus; they were well maintained, clean, warm, and had whirlpools. We especially liked that we could use the pools in the evening. Our room was spacious, spotless, and came with a practical kitchen that had everything we needed. We want to give special thanks to the housekeeping staff – the women were incredibly friendly and attentive, tidied our room lovingly every day, and folded the towels nicely. Those small touches really pleased us. The free coffee from the machines in the morning was a great bonus that we appreciated. Throughout our stay we felt completely comfortable. The fantastic location, beautiful property, and friendly staff made those four days truly special, and we would definitely return and recommend this hotel from the heart.

“Good time was had by all.”

The place is in a great spot, just a short walk from several excellent restaurants and bars. The staff, however, came across as cold and indifferent.

The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are lovely and quiet. The restaurant was quite good, but it takes a long walk to reach the outer buildings; having golf carts to shuttle people back and forth would be helpful.
