Breakfast was tasty and made to order, and the evening wine and cheese hour was enjoyable; we liked the garden and fire pits and the overall amenities were nice, but our room felt a bit shabby and dated with worn‑out saggy chairs, a big chip in the glass table top, and my husband tripped over a lamp cord that lay across the floor.

The hotel was spotless, everything upgraded and elegant, and it was clever to offer a cheese & wine hour and a dessert hour; dinner at The Victor was excellent – we had the New York steak, and the cocktails were delicious too; we’ll definitely stay at the Genevieve again when we go wine tasting.

Nothing beats staying at the Genevieve for 2‑3 days in the Santa Ynez Valley; it’s a classy, quiet hotel and I liked everything.

The calm was perfect for our road trip, the bed was great, the room and bathroom very spacious, the building and structure timeless, and it had an authentic vibe; the breakfast was a bit basic with few choices but very good.
