The hotel offered great value as a tidy little gem: spacious, quiet, clean rooms with a fridge, all in a central city spot. The only downside was the country’s smoking culture; while rooms were smoke‑free, the restaurant/bar allowed smoking, which made us uneasy.

I stayed in a spot that’s hard to beat for its location and the staff were friendly, but the beds were left unmade and the sheets had yellow stains. The room had a bizarre “ambient” light that couldn’t be turned off, forcing me to sleep with it on—ridiculous.
