“Beautiful Facilities and Wonderful Staff, but Not Worth the Price we paid at the time we stayed.”
We booked this hotel to celebrate a special occasion and paid more for this stay than we have ever paid for a hotel room. While there were certainly some highlights, unfortunately, the overall experience fell short of our expectations given the price. We were upgraded to a King Corner Room on the 109th floor, which was lovely, spacious and clean. Unfortunately, the views were affected by haze from fires in Indonesia, which was, of course, beyond the hotel's control. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently attentive, friendly and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile. We enjoyed drinks at the bar, which offered a good selection of spirits, and breakfast was pleasant, with a combination of à la carte options and buffet items. The pastries were particularly delicious. We also dined at the Grill and ordered the signature steak. Unfortunately, the steak was served medium rare rather than medium we had requested. While this suited my taste, it was disappointing that our preference wasn't met. On a positive note, the restaurant staff were excellent, attentively refilling our water and topping up our wine glasses without needing to be asked. The pool and spa facilities were another highlight. The changing rooms were spotless and well equipped, with plenty of towels and even a swimsuit spinner. The steam room, Himalayan salt sauna and hot tub were wonderful and incredibly restorative. There were a few significant disappointments. I had requested a birthday cake in advance and received confirmation that a small complimentary cake would be provided. Unfortunately, it never arrived. The air conditioning was also very noisy during the night, affecting our ability to sleep comfortably. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the water in our room. One of the main reasons I chose the King Room was for its beautiful bathroom and bath. I had imagined relaxing in the bath with a glass of wine, which was part of the appeal of booking such a special stay. Unfortunately, the water ran brown. When we contacted reception, we were assured that it was completely safe for bathing, but no explanation could be given as to why it was discoloured. I simply didn't feel comfortable bathing in it. We stayed for two nights and received no further update or explanation about the issue, which was particularly disappointing given the standard and price of the accommodation. The delayed opening of the 118 Mall also means there are currently very limited nearby dining options, although this will hopefully become a great addition once it is operational
