The spot is generally good, even though a noisy street is nearby. Everyone at the place was very friendly, and there's a cute dog—though not suitable for allergy sufferers. The property is being renovated piece by piece, and you can already see improvements, so it could be great once finished. Unfortunately, it wasn’t usable for me, so I had to rebook last minute. Allergies are an issue because of a lot of pet hair. The windows and balcony door felt unstable, which worried me about my gear. There was no air conditioning. The bathroom and kitchen were in dire need of renovation, and even the partially updated rooms still required better cleanliness and hygiene. Communication was a big problem: email and phone were hard to get through, and at check‑in I had to wait about an hour because there was no bell or anyone reachable. On the bright side, after a lot of back‑and‑forth, the full amount was refunded.

We booked through Bookong.com, which instantly accepted the non‑refundable, pay‑at‑booking policy. We needed the room for an early Tuesday morning appointment in Cape Town center and were traveling with pets. I started calling the provided number on Sunday and kept calling on Monday, but the line went straight to voicemail. I also sent texts and emails via the hotel’s mail service, yet never heard back. We got to Kloof Nest around 6 pm on Monday. First, the house had no number. Second, there was only one entrance—a heavy black steel gate—without a bell or intercom. Nobody answered, so we waited about 15 minutes before another guest opened the door for us. The owner was then woken up and told us there were no rooms available, even though the system showed our booking. The property isn’t well kept and doesn’t meet typical high‑standard expectations. Given the communication issues, I strongly advise staying elsewhere.

“Very disappointing”

The stay was very disappointing. The property sits on a busy street, so traffic noise persisted late into the night and again before sunrise. With no air‑conditioning or fan, windows had to stay open, and the room wasn’t dark at night, leading to poor sleep. There was only one shared bathroom for all guests and hosts, and no indoor living area. I wouldn’t stay there again.
