Hotel Avenida sits atop Mount Igueldo, overlooking San Sebastián. The hotel features a swimming pool in its garden and offers free access to a fitness centre. Rooms include private bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, minibars, 40" satellite TVs, and safety deposit boxes. A buffet breakfast is served, and the Rekondo restaurant, with a renowned wine cellar, is adjacent. The view was beautiful, the breakfast on the terrace was good, and the location was great for the city center yet still quiet; we could charge our e‑smart directly on the hotel parking lot. The price‑performance ratio was extremely poor—330 € per night including breakfast is a lot, especially since it was the International Film Festival, which we only found out about later. The beds were quite hard and not very comfortable.

The beds, hygiene, and location with a view of the beach and city were good, the staff were friendly, and there was a pool that looked clean even though I didn’t use it. The shower was a problem: the showerhead in most hotels isn’t well maintained, so the rain shower emitted a weak spray, as it did here; fortunately, the handheld shower was still okay. Everything else was fine.

The breakfast was high quality, hearty, and varied; the locals were pleasant, and the amenities were nice: lounges, pool, fully equipped gym, etc. The room was superb, spacious, bright with lots of light, and offered a panoramic view of San Sebastian—magnificent. The negative part was not specified.
