The room was spacious and quiet.

There’s a soba shop and a public bath right in front of the room. The inn has a kitchen area and a shower, but I didn’t feel the need to use them. The bugs were real; the sheets and towels were over‑washed and looked worn.

A small onsen village tucked into lush nature, what charm! This old station hasn’t changed much since the 60s, no huge ryokans like usual, everything is in its own “juice.” My ryokan was a bit boho, very warm, and my big beautiful room was on the only street of the village. The two public baths are nearby, but they’re not exceptional—sad, but that’s part of the modesty of this rare, lovely place. The baths…
