We’re a mid‑fifties couple who love clubs, bubble parties, and closing parties like the kids, but we’re not here to play bridge at 8 p.m.; we just want a bit of comfort after a night out, and this place doesn’t deliver. Ibiza Rocks feels like a university dorm mixed with a bee colony: a tiny bar, an overpriced convenience store, and a great central spot, but for twenty‑somethings who want a basic, party‑focused stay it might be fine. The staff deal with thousands of young guests who keep partying at midnight, 3 a.m., and 5 a.m., so they act more like camp counselors than hotel staff, with security everywhere, rules everywhere, and signs warning guests not to mistreat staff. At check‑in they strap a concert‑style bracelet around your wrist that you can’t remove for the whole stay—huh? I didn’t want to wander around Ibiza advertising where I was staying. The Pool Plus room was spacious, with a balcony and oddly three beds, but our premium pool view overlooked a closed pool, partly blocked by a structure. For €30 they moved us to a room overlooking the smaller, operational pool, which was fair, but why not warn guests beforehand? The internet was terrible: 2 Mbps all through our stay, the worst I’ve seen in Europe. We bought €35 eSIMs and switched to 100+ Mbps 5G. The air conditioner ran but did nothing; the room stayed hot, so we slept with the balcony door open. The blanket was so thin a woman could wear it as a beach cover‑up. One ridiculous incident happened at reception: a huge vat of plastic balls lets guests climb in for photos. My wife and I, mid‑fifties, disabled, and not drinking, were tossing a few balls when a twenty‑something staff member shouted, “NO THROWING!” Not a polite request, just a sharp command like we were unruly six‑year‑olds. The staff seem to have forgotten that not everyone needs supervision after dealing with thousands of drunk, rowdy guests. I understand the hotel has rules, needs security, and deals with intoxicated guests nightly, but there’s a difference between maintaining order and treating every guest as a potential disciplinary problem. We weren’t drunk, disturbing, or damaging anything; we were just taking photos. Ibiza Rocks has a decent location and probably meets the needs of younger, party‑focused guests, but if you want comfort, decent internet, effective air‑conditioning, or staff who treat you like an adult, look elsewhere. For us it felt more like checking into summer camp than a hotel, only with worse Wi‑Fi. The hotel might argue it was the end of the season and some shortcomings were unavoidable, but we were there for the closing parties with David Guetta and other big names still performing, which happens every year and is hardly a surprise.
