Hotel & Restaurant Krone, situated directly on the Rhine in Kestert, offers a terrace, restaurant, and stunning river views. Rooms feature flat-screen TVs, free WiFi, and private bathrooms with showers. Guests enjoy a complimentary European continental breakfast buffet and can dine on regional specialties in the traditional Krone Restaurant, with options indoors and on the terrace, near the train station and Loreley Valley.

Breakfast was okay, but after a long trip we arrived at half‑nine and, despite the hotel/restaurant, we received no food. We ended up in the annex, where the food was tasty and old‑school. The staff were young but not very friendly.

The room was fine, but the service and atmosphere were a disaster, so we didn’t enjoy the booked meal or breakfast. The fault lies largely with bookings—they should have mentioned the hotel type (Enjoy hotel) in the description! It was massively impersonal and indescribably unwelcoming.

The room and buffet breakfast were acceptable, but the hotel included former inns in the town (annex). The former Café‑Pension Schadt, about 100 m from the main building, offered a vacant dining space in a 70s style. The smell suggested a long vacancy. The TV had no signal, and there was no Wi‑Fi notice. I had to get the individual code from kitchen staff in the main building, but it didn’t work, so I gave up. The reception was apparently handled by the service and kitchen staff. For dinner, aside from the buffet, there were almost no alternatives.

The price was good and the view from the window was nice, but we were disappointed overall. First, we were assigned to the farthest building. Breakfast required going to one building, dinner to another, and if you weren't staying in the main building you had to walk about 5 minutes over the main street to reach the sauna. Second, we had arranged in advance that the hotel would buy flowers for my wife's birthday and set them on the table during breakfast – a small but pleasant surprise – yet upon check‑in we were told that nothing would happen, which was a real let‑down. Third, behind the bathroom door we found a third occupant – a spider – which was removed the next day after cleaning. Fourth, the bed creaked with every movement, something I’d read about in other reviews. Fifth, breakfast was basically fine, but the coffee always had a long line, making you wonder whether to wait or not. Overall, everything else was okay, but you have to be prepared for a lot of quirks.
