“Perfect rest after Mt Nantai climb”

Everything was perfect, making it the best ryokan we’ve stayed at; the staff even left a hot kettle and our luggage in the room, and they handled umbrellas for drying, which showed real care for guests. The room was very calm, and the onsen, though not adjacent to the rooms, had no heating noise, giving us a quiet experience. We loved the veranda view, and the onsen temperature was just right—hot but not boiling, so we could relax there. They even offered a tattoo-friendly slot between 21h and 00h, a smart way to blend Japanese tradition with international guests, and the dining room’s temperature was spot‑on with delicious dinner. However, a barely visible step into the outdoor onsen almost caused us to fall; a “watch your step” sign would help. The breakfast was Japanese‑style, but we’d have liked options like coffee, hot chocolate, or fruit juice. The evening light was too dim, the breakfast room felt cold, and the restroom light was hard to locate.

The building was old but had been beautifully renovated, and there was nothing to complain about.

“と東照宮に近いという利点以外にあまりよくなかった”

We chose the hotel because it was close to 東照宮, and there was no complaint about that. Dust had accumulated at the window lock, the hallway had an unpleasant odor, dessert was not served during meals and we had to bring it back when leaving, and the dinner—simmered dishes, tempura, grilled fish—was cold and disappointing.

The staff were friendly, it was near 日光東照宮 making it a good spot for sightseeing, and the food and hot spring were enjoyable, with no issues to report.
