“Peaceful countryside stay with cultural accents and social message.”
Extremely quiet location, a good 40 minutes from old city. Good choice if you want the local countryside experience and comfort, just a short hop from the city centre. Peaceful. Fireflies! Fantastic hosts and team, made us feel very welcome, crucially also helped look after our transport requirements and other practical needs, as well as suggest great neighborhood tours and involve us in cultural highlights actively engaging the local community. Effective, thoughtful and friendly, we felt very included, looked after and welcome - thank you Dtor and Peter! Breakfast (and Dinner) were super yummy and very generous portions. Mosquito repellent spray was thoughtfully provided - very handy and effective! Age-appropriate toys/games were supplied for our toddler, which was much appreciated! The cabin is thoughtfully set up and built with love. Vibrant koi pond. The eco cabin we stayed was constructed of spectacular reclaimed timber and massive scenic windows, allowing incredible views of sunset and sunrise. Lovely to be woken up by chorus of birds every morning!. The eco cabin we stayed was constructed of spectacular reclaimed timber and massive scenic windows, allowing incredible views of sunset and sunrise. This unfortunately meant a significant thermal load - basically a greenhouse in the tropics + significant radiative heating from the roof - so the valiant AC took a good 12-16 hours to finally settle into steady state (indoors 36 degC falling slowly to 25 degC for the ground level; upper level room took quite rather longer to become habitable). Good for us, we stayed 3 nights, so the thermal issue was only a real bother on the first day where we could only use the ground floor beds. Disclaimer: we visited early October, tail-end of wet season. (2cents: the electricity consumed to attain nominal thermal comfort in the cabin might actually detract from the eco-friendly philosophy and motivation of the place, especially if cycled "from hot" on a daily basis.? The conscious objector may go "cold turkey" without AC altogether with windows open, opting for a constant ambient ~32 degC indoors, 90%RH and occasional breeze, but is it still a holiday if one is constantly sweating and being mozzie bait?)
