My stay at Malik Apartahotel Boutique in Cali, Colombia was deeply disappointing, mainly because of the unacceptable behavior of its owner, Jorge Luis Montoya. While I was gathering my belongings and preparing to check out, Mr. Montoya threatened to call the police if I didn’t leave before the designated departure time. I was simply organizing my things to leave, but instead of showing patience, courtesy, or even a minimum of hospitality, he resorted to threats and intimidation. I have had the chance to travel extensively and stay in many hotels worldwide, and I can say with certainty that this has been one of the most unpleasant and unprofessional experiences I have had in the hotel industry. A hotel owner should understand that guests deserve respect, professionalism, and dignified treatment, especially when they are paying for a service. Threatening to call the police during a normal check‑out process is entirely unnecessary, disproportionate, and unacceptable. Beautiful facilities mean nothing if the management lacks respect, professionalism, and basic customer service principles. Unfortunately, the owner’s attitude clouded any positive aspects the establishment might have had. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend staying at Malik Apartahotel Boutique. True hospitality starts with respect, and that was precisely what was missing during my stay.
