I liked the comfort of the bed and the cleanliness, but after a 15‑hour drive I arrived during a storm and had to walk out while it was pouring rain because a sign was placed on my car; the next morning I found my room locked and had to come down for another key because both of my keys weren’t working, even though I had only used one and kept the other in the room, and the staff said it was due to having it next to my cell phone, which was frustrating.

The Cheshire has a great vibe and the staff is top‑class. The Fox and the Hound and Basso serve tasty food and drinks, and Basso’s happy hour is among the best in St. Louis—don’t miss the hamburger and fries. The continental breakfast is fresh with plenty of options; the scrambled eggs are superb, well‑seasoned and likely cooked in butter. The beds feel comfy and the rooms are snug. On the downside, some furniture and carpets are worn; the high‑back chair’s seat cushion was threadbare, the bathroom paint was peeling, and the shower faucet needed fixing, though it still worked.

The front desk team was incredibly friendly and attentive. However, a $50.00 incidentals fee was added and has not yet been refunded to my account.

The hotel sits in a nice neighborhood. The air conditioning didn’t get as cool as I’d hoped.
