Fabulous location near Catbells. Friendly service, attentive but a little haphazard. The full English breakfast was very good, but the coffee was weak and I would have preferred a healthier option of cereals, fruits and yoghurt. I was given butter but nothing to put it on (toast, perhaps?). I booked a table for 8 pm but my first course didn’t arrive till 9.10. When it did come, the partridge was exquisite, however. Quite delicious. The main course sea bass was also good but I would have preferred saffron rice to overcooked orzo and the bowl was awkward to eat from. I was given a free glass of wine as compensation for the delays but it felt like too little, too late, by then. A shame that these timing issues spoiled the chef’s rather wonderful efforts, for me
