The room was nice, but the price was too high compared to the other 11 places we stayed in Devon; it didn’t match the value. We weren’t told the building would be closed on the day we arrived, which caused a lot of anxiety because we couldn’t even get into the building—no one had given us our room number or the key code. Luckily a local woman noticed our distress, made some calls, and helped us get into the building and our room. There was no staff on site at all, and this was the only uncomfortable moment during our 11‑day walk along the South Hams Way.

We didn’t have breakfast, but the location was good. The room was clean, the linen was good, the bathroom was excellent. All in all, everything was fine.
