The location is gorgeous; the mountain view depends on the weather – we saw it in the morning, but clouds rolled in by the time we came back. It’s only a few minutes’ drive from the main township. The room was lovely and clean. The parking space is labeled for two cars but realistically only fits one mid‑size SUV (luckily the neighbouring cabins parked elsewhere so we weren’t inconvenienced). The sliding bathroom door’s handle was jammed into the wall cavity and bent; it didn’t stop the door from opening, but I had to wrestle it out of its cavity.

It was a typical resort – not my first choice when traveling. It’s adequate, but the adjoining rooms make it feel less private. The rooms were fine, but the tea and coffee options were barely there. I can’t really complain about the lack of privacy because that’s normal for a resort of this type.

The chalet had everything we needed, was spacious and offered stunning mountain views. It’s a quiet spot but you can drive straight to Franz Josef and there’s convenient car parking. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back.
