“Alles in Allem: Unsichere Bruchbude, zwielichtige Betreiber”
The location is nice, but when I arrived four months after booking, the place looked very shabby and shady. The room was dirty upon arrival, still covered in the previous guests’ mess, and the cleaning was awful even in the replacement room we were “kindly” given; it was only superficially tidied, the floor and carpets were left uncleaned. The owners seemed disheveled and overwhelmed, acting unprofessionally and showing no grasp of booking procedures, apparently taking over because the prior operators had vanished after making quick money. The shower and hot water were problematic: the men’s toilet had only an “Out of Order” sign with no explanation, and the alternative hot shower was in a separate shed outside, never mentioned on Booking or signposted on arrival. Smoke detectors in the room were unscrewed, there was an open fire in the living area while no staff were present at night, and the house shook in the wind. A musty, smoky smell lingered, and the owners’ cigarette scent was obvious. Shortly after settling in, a loud beeping started every 15 seconds and didn’t stop after 20 minutes, which made us feel increasingly uneasy and unsafe, so we left the property—an inconvenient move given its remote location. Refunds were impossible; the owners ignored all necessary messages and calls, and Booking never removed the listing despite numerous complaints.
