“Škoda přístupu recepční - zkazilo to celý dojem z ubytování”
We were excited for this accommodation and stayed from 19‑20.8.2026; however, the experience was mixed, largely because of the reception staff’s attitude. On arrival the receptionist was training a new colleague, so the check‑in felt a bit odd. She mostly spoke to the new staff rather than us, but eventually explained everything we needed and we didn’t see that as a problem. The unpleasant moment came later when we were returning to our room after sitting on the terrace outside the hotel. A new receptionist had taken over the first shift. My partner walked a few steps ahead of me with a suitcase and, passing the reception, the receptionist called out to him without greeting, asking if he was staying at the hotel. He is German and doesn’t understand Czech, so he stopped, and the receptionist asked again if he had a room and demanded the room key. When he said “I don’t understand,” the receptionist replied, “What don’t you understand?” Such treatment of a guest is completely inappropriate. We were surprised not only by the use of informal address but also by the way she communicated. Another disappointment was the room’s lack of amenities. The listing on Booking advertised bathrobes and a hair dryer, but neither was present. A bathroom mat was also missing. The wardrobe only had one usable hook; the other was broken, and a non‑working fan was stored in the wardrobe. The insect net was only on one window, and we opened all the windows and spent the whole night listening to mosquitoes buzzing—though we don’t blame the hotel for that, it kept us from sleeping. When I pointed out the missing hair dryer at reception, I was told it was stored there because guests steal them. I understand the effort to prevent theft, but if a hair dryer is advertised as part of the room’s amenities, it should be available without extra effort. It was unpleasant to discover its absence right after washing my hair just before heading to the restaurant. If it wasn’t listed as available, I would have taken it from my motorcycle’s luggage. In the evening we witnessed another incident at reception. A young group of guests was shouted at by the receptionist, who again used informal address. Having worked in hotel reception for over two years, I know that such communication is not standard. When we bought a beer at reception, the second receptionist didn’t offer to open the bottle, even though the new staff was told to actively ask guests for this service and open the bottle. While we were on the terrace, the receptionist was cleaning furniture into the hotel’s interior, even from our table. I don’t see why she bothered us and couldn’t wait until we left. The promised city view turned out to be a view of the parking lot with red city buses. In the morning, upon departure, we found the receptionist resting on a sofa in the reception area. We left the room key and TV remote on the counter and left. The hotel itself has potential; the rooms are pleasant, large, and the location is interesting. Unfortunately, the overall impression was ruined by this receptionist’s attitude. The level of communication with guests is an area the management should focus on.
