We spent a single night at Nassau Guest Farm and were absolutely blown away! The farm has several tiny cottages clustered just a few meters apart, and ours probably dates back to 1680, making it one of the oldest rentals in the area. It’s been lovingly updated with a fridge, air conditioning, spotlights to showcase the old thatched roof, and USB‑C ports for charging phones directly—no adapter needed. In short, you get to sleep in a historic building while still enjoying modern tech, which is perfect. We were welcomed with drinks on arrival, and the next morning the owner, Lynette, personally delivered a beautifully presented breakfast to our cottage, so we didn’t have to walk to a separate breakfast room. Lynette’s husband owns a vintage car collection in a barn on the farm, and he gave us an impromptu tour that was fascinating even if you’re not a car fan. We also got plenty of useful tips on where to shop and dine in Stellenbosch and Cape Town. After our night at Nassau Guest Farm, we drove to Cape Town and stayed two more nights there. If I’d known how fantastic Nassau was, I would have stayed there for all three nights and taken day trips to the Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain, and other sights from there. You feel much safer there than in Cape Town. If we ever travel to South Africa again, we’d love to return!
