My room was on the 3rd floor, overlooking the courtyard – absolutely quiet and peaceful, giving me the best sleep in a long time. Spotlessly clean with a lovely atmosphere. I had a special request: I love sleeping under a heavy duvet, and although the host seemed surprised, they immediately gave me a crisp, fresh duvet that was perfect. I slept like I was in heaven!

I deliberately chose a hotel in central Biarritz with a historic vibe, and it turned out exactly that! The historic mansion sits in the city center, with a reception full of 20th‑century artifacts – a marble fireplace, velvet sofas and chairs, warm dim lighting over the tables, and the host writing guests into the visitor book by hand. The creaky wooden stairs, the French textiles in the room, curtains, vintage bed, nightstands, and lamps all add to the charm. The large bathroom has a marble sink, and the bathtub has two windows that preserve original hardware and glazing. The view of the city center, a park, and even a bit of the ocean is wonderful. If you want to immerse yourself in the historic atmosphere of past centuries, this is the place.

“Charming but dated.”

I liked the location, but the hotel feels a bit old and needs some updates. My first‑floor room faced a dentist office and nearby apartments, so I had to use blinds for privacy and the noise was loud when the windows were open. There was no kettle—maybe that’s a French custom—but the owner kindly gave me a cup of hot water when I asked. The hairdryer was old and slow, and the shower water kept moving while I was using it. Only a small soap bar and sachets of body wash were provided. I couldn’t reach the garden without passing through the breakfast room, which was usually locked.

The location was good, but the cleanliness and service were terrible. The rooms smelled awful and were old and dirty.
