Sunset Resort, on Main Road, lies 6 km from Avarua and 7 km from Rarotonga Airport. Spacious self‑catering studios and suites sit beachfront or beside two outdoor pools, surrounded by tropical gardens. Each unit offers a fully equipped kitchen, private patio or balcony, and air‑conditioning. An all‑day restaurant serves tropical breakfast, à la carte meals, live music, and free parking.

The beach and reef frontage were great, but there was no variety at breakfast.

The resort was beautiful and modern, the bed was large and comfortable, everything was clean, there was a coffee machine in the room, two pools with happy hour drinks, and the beach was lovely with plenty of palm trees and well maintained. Breakfast, which was included with the room, offered only sweet fruit, juices, cakes, and pastries, but it was plenty. The staff were very pleasant. The only downside was the street noise from cars and the clatter of chickens or dogs starting at 4 am, which was caused by the room’s location.

The property was spotless, the staff were friendly, kind, and helpful, and the cocktails were delicious; there was nothing to complain about.

The location was gorgeous, very green and quiet, and the staff—especially those at the office and pool bar—were amazing.
