“An acceptable stay that I might repeat when travelling alone with modest expectations”
The location is very good, particularly for anyone attending an event at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, as the hotel is directly connected to it. The room was comfortable and good, although some of the furniture felt slightly dated. Check-in and reception were the strongest part of the service and everything there was handled smoothly. Beyond reception, however, I found the service rather average and sometimes lacking the warmth and willingness to assist that I would normally expect from a hotel at this level. Overall, it was a decent stay rather than an exceptional one. My rating of 7 is actually quite generous based on my personal experience. This differs from the generally strong guest ratings the hotel receives, particularly for its location and comfort, but there are also other recent reviews mentioning inconsistent service and aspects of the rooms that feel dated. The biggest disappointment was the lack of flexibility and consistency in service. Some restaurants close around 9 PM, which I found surprisingly early for a five-star international hotel. I therefore ordered in-room dining. Despite having a deposit at reception worth approximately five times the value of my order, I was initially repeatedly asked to pay again. After several attempts to explain the situation, they eventually confirmed that I already had sufficient credit and apologised. The food itself then took around an hour to arrive. I also found the dining options relatively limited and considerably overpriced for what was offered. The facilities were acceptable, but nothing particularly memorable. To be fair, my experience appears less positive than the majority: Booking guests currently rate the hotel 9.0 overall, although value for money is notably lower at 8.3. Other recent guests have also reported issues involving value, extra charges, room details and occasions where service did not meet five-star expectations
