The place feels dated, the shower doesn’t stay upright so you have to hold it while filling it; it’s far from both the beaches and the CBD, and the rules are absurd—being on vacation from Joburg only to face a 22:00 curfew that nobody can enter or leave, which made us ask the staff to open the doors each night we went out. I’m grateful for Abigail, who was a sweetheart and opened the door for us without any hassle, but otherwise I didn’t like a thing about the spot except her warm welcome; I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking to have a carefree night out. I also feel bad for Abigail, who washes all the bedding and towels by hand—she’s dealing with all the dirty stuff people leave behind, which is inhumane; she deserves a washing machine. Despite that, my sister and I were very comfortable with Abigail’s hospitality.

“It's bad”

The location is wrong; the place is in Avoca, not Durban North, and it’s just a house that doesn’t look like an Airbnb. There’s no security wall, so it’s not safe for someone unfamiliar with South Africa.
